From the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 disc copy the Packages folder to the local hard drive.  Once everything is copied proceed to cd to the Packages folder on the local drive and run the following command:

rhel# yum localinstall package_name

If you encounter an issue with the RPM-GPG-KEY then perform the following and retry the yum install after running rpm.

rhel# find / -name “*GPG*”

/media/RHEL_6.0 i386 Disc 1/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-beta
/media/RHEL_6.0 i386 Disc 1/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release

Copy RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release from the DVD to the Packages folder on your local hard drive then execute the following:

rhel# rpm –import RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release

Now run the installation again.  The application should install without any issues.

rhel# yum localinstall package_name

Example:

rhel# yum localinstall glibc-headers-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm

It’s also worth mentioning that it is fairly easy to add additional repositories to Red Hat Enterprise.

Adding RPM Forge and Fedora EPEL Repositories

root@localhost# rpm --import http://apt.sw.be/RPM-GPG-KEY.dag.txt
root@localhost# rpm -i rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el6.rf.*.rpm
root@localhost# yum install htop
root@localhost# su -c 'rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm'
